✿ The Story
Set against the Vietnam War and the seismic social shifts of the late 1960s, HAIR follows a bohemian tribe of politically active, long-haired hippies in New York City. United in their rejection of war, conformity, and repression, they champion a world of peace, free love, and radical self-expression.
At the heart is Claude, a gentle soul torn between his conservative parents and the pull of the counterculture. As he grapples with whether to resist the draft or serve in Vietnam, Claude is swept into a psychedelic world of friends, protests, music, and discovery. Leading the HAIR tribe in Sydney will be Maxwell Simon (Moulin Rouge, The Grinning Man) as Berger, Alex Cooper (Much Ado About Nothing) as Claude, Elizabeth Brennan (Pride and Prejudice) as Sheila, Tane Williams-Accra (Family Next Door, Six Degrees of Separation) as Hud, Rosie Meader (Everybody Loves A Wedding) as Jeannie, Phoenix Jackson Mendoza (SIX The Musical), Jackson McGovern (Macbeth, Animal Farm) as Woof, Niylesh Palani (Hello Dolly) as Walter and Mariah Lewy as Chrissy. They are joined by Maverick Newman (Murder for Two, Footloose, Boys in the Band) as Leonard, Nicole Nabout (Return to Paradise) as Susan, Grant Young (Is God Is) as Leroy, Linden Trescott (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) as Apache, Larissa Teale (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as Angela, Ruvarashe Shoko (Little Sista) as Rhiannon, Bronte Horswood (Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies) as Linda, John Marc Desengano (Looking For Alibrandi) as Chuck, Bailey Hayward (The PM’s Daughter) as Natalie, Kelly Lim Harris (NZ Opera, The Drowsy Chaperone) as Alma, Madeleine Somers (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) as Astrid, Cameron Shook (Tinkerbell and the Dream Fairies) as Cammy, Ashleigh Hermann (Alice in Wonderland) as Louise and Luke London (The Pirates of Penzance) as Johnny.
With its iconic rock score ("Aquarius," "Let the Sunshine In," "I Got Life," and "Good Morning Starshine"), HAIR broke ground by blending rock music with raw emotion, political commentary, and boundary-pushing storytelling. This production honours the original trailblazers, keeping the soul of HAIR alive while inviting audiences to rediscover the power, poetry, and passion of one of theatre's most revolutionary works.
HAIR isn't just a musical. It's a movement. ☮

✿ From the Audience
I was front row on opening night. Singing along, not very well but still singing. Absolutely fantastic show!
I saw the matinee yesterday. My fourth Hair experience. It was fabulous ..again
Great show. I still remembered all the words.
Saw it this afternoon, it was brilliant, the cast were amazing. Originally saw it in the UK in the early 70’s

Went last night after seeing it years ago. Absolutely amazing
Went yesterday and loved it
The first preview on Saturday was absolutely fantastic! Singing and dancing were on point. Sheila’s song was a showstopper - just gorgeous. Huge thumbs up to the entire cast! Special mention to the talented actors playing Claude, Berger and Sheila.
Great dose of nostalgia and so relevant with the current situation in the Middle East. Great audience join in at the end, Let the Sunshine In!
We just saw this amazing show. Great cast, they really brought the songs to life.
Went to opening show last night - fabulous! The message is as important today as it ever was. Great talented, enthusiastic cast — can recommend. Don’t miss it!
It was wonderful
Fantastic performance by all the cast - wasn’t sure if I’d like it but it was fabulous
Really enjoyed the show. Definitely not for the prudish.
Great show and performance
All cast were great but Rosie Meader as Jeannie was a standout for me
A strange sort of show; a relevant relic. Beautifully performed and incredible cast.
This show will not disappoint…. Superb directing, choreography, vocal direction…. And an amazing cast …. Loved it.
Great show
Great show we loved it. Saw the original also.
Love the belt’s!
Great show!
Saw it today; a lot of the audience like me were teenagers for the original back in the 60s. It is a terrific production well worth seeing.
I had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful show yesterday. What a brilliant experience. The cast were vocally excellent as well as talented actors and dancers. The band did a magnificent job and the choreography was first class. Well done to all the cast and crew.
Great new production. Saw the original and this is the first revival to give it back the energy, raunch and shock value of the original. Players worked together as a whole team.
We were there last night. Thoroughly enjoyable and still relevant — you have to admire how ground breaking it must’ve been in the late 60s.
Saw it yesterday! Loved it! A full stage of talent!
Saw this tonight. My 4th production and probably my favourite! The cast was outstanding and just thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
Absolutely fantastic — loved it from beginning to the end. Well done to all the cast.
We went last night and loved every minute of it.
Such a beautiful show with a wonderful message.

Was in the audience on Thursday 11/6. This show is a must-see event!
Brilliantly done.
It was brilliant — then so was Jesus Christ Superstar.
Saw it last week and it was just fabulous!
Went last week.. so fabulous.. loved every song… as I remembered it when it first came to Melbourne.
So good! Fabulous cast!
Saw it yesterday, such a fabulous cast & musicians. Don’t miss it.
Just got home from the show — a fabulous interpretation. I recommend space cakes and mushroom tea. Caught the cast out the back alley, lovely people. Go.
I loved the show too! Highly recommend.
Went today — excellent. The message, 50/60 years later, still applies now.
Saw it today, loved it. The young cast are great, great band. As Mollie says, do yourself a favour — go see it.
Superb production and brilliant cast. Loved every moment. I’d see it again in a heartbeat.
Just been tonight, loved it, brilliant show — still singing Let the Sunshine In.
I’ve seen every Australian production of Hair The Musical Australia since first seeing it in 1970. Being at the opening night last night was a joy. Great voices, beaut choreography, and a story which still resonates as strongly as it did 56 years ago.
Had a terrific time. Most of the songs are well known because they’ve entered pop culture, and the interaction with the audience is great fun.
Opening night on Friday was perfect. A highly talented cast relived the joy of first seeing Hair 56 years ago.
